Glenpatrick Water Cooler Survey

Glenpatrick December Blog

In this month’s Christmas blog we decided to a do a fun Glenpatrick Water Cooler Survey of our own organization. We decided to monitor how many people in our company were drinking water and the volumes which were being consumed.

Irish people seem to carry bottled water everywhere they go these days. In fact, it has become the second most popular drink (behind soft drinks). As discussed many times there are so many reasons why water is good for your health. In previous previous blogs it is scientifically proven that people should drink eight glasses a day.

20 office staff surveyed – On average people drink 9 glasses a day. This was the largest in the company. We are putting this down to the easy accessibility of water coolers. This was a very positive result and should help to the productivity in the office. As well as the health benefits for our bodies and healthier skin all seems very positive in the office. This consumption does fluctuate as some people drink as much as 12 with some people drinking 4.

Customer care reps 11 staff employed –We put this down to the fast nature of their work. In en-sight our reps should be drinking the most water as they undertake the most physical activity in the business. Sweating causes muscles to lose water and when the muscles don’t have enough water, they get tired. So for extra energy, drinking water helps more work load.

Warehouse staff 4 – On average our warehouse staff drink 5 glasses a day. This is the lowest consumption in the organization. Our warehouse staff drink the least water. We put this down to accessibility of water coolers. The warehouse is located a far distance from the canteen and other coolers in the building. When muscle cells don’t have adequate fluids, they don’t work as well and performance can suffer.

This was a very interesting survey and the results were quite surprising. I was expecting the customer care reps to drink the most water due to the fast nature of their work. Surprisingly our office staff drink the most water. This is very positive and the benefits of drinking water are clear to see. The surveys show that people will drink more water should water coolers be made more accessible.
